Vengence kills the Soul

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. ~ Leviticus 19:18.  There was a time when I thought that it was my duty to seek revenge on those who caused me or mine harm. However, with age came wisdom and the understanding that seeking the destruction of another for inflicting personal pain is, in essence, a wrong thing.  It is a natural reaction, or so it seems, to want to hurt someone who has caused pain, embarrassment or personal loss. Albeit, this "naturalness" can cause much heartache and disdain. It is far better for our soul, body and mind if we learn the calming wisdom of forgiveness.  Jesus exemplified forgiveness in its fullest form when he, while dying on a Roman stake, utter a prayer for his murderers (Luke 23:34). The sweetness of true forgiveness is exhilarating when one can fully experience it and this comes only when we learn that to forgive (and forsake) is best for our own well...
