My Little Star!

Image
My Little Star! (for my son, Elijah) Goodnight, my little star so bright, You shine upon my heart tonight. Though distance stands between our skies, Your light still dances in my eyes. When day is done and dreams take flight, I whisper love into the night. Across the clouds, it finds its way, To guard you till the break of day. So close your eyes and drift to dreams, Where rivers glow and starlight gleams. Ride moonbeams on the ocean’s crest, The world is yours—now go and rest. Remember, son, when shadows creep, And whispers try to steal your sleep, That Daddy’s voice is soft but near, A steady song you’ll always hear. You’re braver than the storms that roar, You’re stronger than you’ve known before. And even when we’re far apart, You live right here—inside my heart. So dream, my boy, the sweetest things, Of laughter, love, and angel wings. Goodnight, my little star so true, The world is brighter because of you.

The Rising Phoenix

On that day, the world turned grey — Ashes drifted like rain from a broken sky. The air was heavy with endings, And all I could taste was sorrow. Yet somewhere in that silent dread, A spark trembled… A rumble whispered… A breath of life stirred the dust. The fallen was not at his end. The wind of sand and time Wrapped around the ember of my soul And whispered, “Rise again.” From the smoke, a man emerged — Quieter, wiser, No longer fighting to be understood, But finally understanding. The storm that tried to burn me Refined me instead. The hurt fell away, The guilt dissolved, The noise of need went still. Now I rise — Not in fury, But in peace. My scars shimmer like medals, My calm is my crown. I laugh again. I sing to the songs that rise In the bright Guyanese sun. I feel the warmth that friendship stirs, And I know — life is beautiful again. So despair if you must, Cry out your pain to the wind, But never forget the light ahead. For you, like Gu...

Beautiful Dawn

Beautiful dawn - melt with the stars again. Do you remember the day when my journey began? Will you remember the end (of time)? Beautiful dawn - You're just blo wing my mind again. Thought I was born to endless night, until you shine. High; running wild among all the stars above. Sometimes it's hard to believe you remember me.

Vengence kills the Soul

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. ~ Leviticus 19:18.  There was a time when I thought that it was my duty to seek revenge on those who caused me or mine harm. However, with age came wisdom and the understanding that seeking the destruction of another for inflicting personal pain is, in essence, a wrong thing.  It is a natural reaction, or so it seems, to want to hurt someone who has caused pain, embarrassment or personal loss. Albeit, this "naturalness" can cause much heartache and disdain. It is far better for our soul, body and mind if we learn the calming wisdom of forgiveness.  Jesus exemplified forgiveness in its fullest form when he, while dying on a Roman stake, utter a prayer for his murderers (Luke 23:34). The sweetness of true forgiveness is exhilarating when one can fully experience it and this comes only when we learn that to forgive (and forsake) is best for our own well...
